NNPCL announced a ₦748 billion profit after tax, while also achieving ₦5.891 trillion revenue in April 2025. Consequently, statutory transfers totaled ₦4.225 trillion from January to March. However, these unaudited figures solely reflect NNPCL’s operations, excluding independent operators’ data. Furthermore, the results underscore NNPCL’s pivotal role in Nigeria’s economy, despite global oil market volatility.

Operational Performance

In April, crude oil production averaged 1.61 million barrels per day, whereas natural gas output reached 7.473 million cubic feet daily. Meanwhile, upstream pipeline availability stood strong at 97%, ensuring efficient delivery. Comparatively, production from January to March slightly fluctuated, with 1.67, 1.62, and 1.56 million barrels daily, respectively. Additionally, gas production rose steadily from 7.120 million cubic feet in January. Therefore, these figures highlight operational resilience amid challenging conditions.

Infrastructure Advancements

Moreover, the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) pipeline progressed to 70% completion, and the OB3 pipeline reached 95%. Specifically, technical interventions resolved River Niger crossing issues, boosting project timelines. Meanwhile, Port Harcourt, Warri, and Kaduna refineries are undergoing thorough assessments to enhance output. Additionally, Turnaround Maintenance was successfully completed for OMLs 18, 58, 118, and 133 in April. Consequently, these efforts strengthen Nigeria’s energy infrastructure reliability.

Strategic Investment Plans

Furthermore, NNPCL is set to finalize investment decisions by Q4 2025 for four key projects. These include the Ntokon Development Project (OML 102), Crude Oil Production Expansion (OML 29), Gas Development Projects (OMLs 30 and 42), and the Brass Fertilizer Project. Accordingly, these initiatives aim to expand Nigeria’s energy capacity and drive economic growth. Moreover, they align with NNPCL’s long-term vision for energy security.

Community and Social Impact

Additionally, the NNPC Foundation significantly impacted communities in Q1 2025. For instance, 531 NYSC members received solar power starter kits, fostering clean energy entrepreneurship. Similarly, 83 ICT trainees and 170 creative industry talents were equipped with business starter kits. Furthermore, 2,005 individuals regained vision through cataract surgeries in the South-East and South-South. Also, three hospital wards with 100-bed capacity were rehabilitated at National Orthopaedic Hospital, Igbobi. Moreover, STEM books and science libraries were commissioned in Abuja and Lagos schools, inspiring young innovators. Finally, 3,860 vulnerable farmers across the South-East and South-South were trained in climate-smart agriculture, enhancing food security and livelihoods.

Economic and Environmental Outlook

Looking ahead, NNPCL’s performance reflects cautious optimism for Nigeria’s energy sector. Specifically, high oil prices and improved production efficiency likely drove April’s strong financials. However, challenges like global market fluctuations and domestic infrastructure gaps persist. Nevertheless, NNPCL’s focus on pipeline completion and refinery upgrades signals commitment to long-term stability. Additionally, its community initiatives demonstrate a balanced approach, integrating economic growth with social responsibility. Therefore, sustained progress will depend on transparent governance and strategic execution.
