NNPCL and TotalEnergies are actively working together to invest $550 million in the development of a gas processing facility in Rivers State. The primary goal of this investment is to enhance both exports and domestic supplies.
Reports indicate that the investment will encompass the construction of a gas processing plant and a pipeline. NNPCL mentioned that an unnamed source stated an official announcement regarding this development is expected this week.
Total and NNPC are set to construct the gas processing facility on the Ubeta onshore gas field.. It will supply gas to the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) plant. Once operational, the plant is projected to produce 350 million standard cubic feet per day of gas and 10,000 barrels per day of associated liquids.
Nigeria, possessing Africa’s largest natural gas reserves exceeding 200 trillion cubic feet, currently flares gas from its oil fields due to the lack of processing infrastructure and financial limitations.
