The Dangote Petroleum Refinery and eight domestic refineries now plan to process 770,500 barrels of oil daily from January to June 2025.Meanwhile, the government aims to boost production capacity to ensure a stable crude oil supply. The target now exceeds two million barrels per day.

Additionally, the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) recently reported an 11% increase in Nigeria’s oil production, including condensates. Specifically, production rose from 1.333 million barrels in October to 1.486 million barrels in November 2024. This increase translates to 152,000 barrels per day and approximately one million barrels for the month.

In terms of allocation, the Dangote Refinery will receive the largest share of crude at 550,000 barrels per day. Following this, the Warri Refinery will obtain 75,000 barrels, whereas the Port Harcourt and Kaduna refineries will take 60,000 and 66,000 barrels per day, respectively.

Collectively, all nine refineries will process 770,500 barrels daily, resulting in 23.8 million barrels per month. Over a six-month period, this totals approximately 143 million barrels for refining.

Furthermore, the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) noted that the crude oil requirement of 770,500 barrels per day amounts to about 37% of the expected daily production of 2,066,940 barrels in the first half of 2025.

Lastly, the NUPRC plans to enhance the capabilities of upstream operators to meet a short-term target of 2.5 million barrels per day. The Project One Million Barrels, which launched in October 2024, aims to significantly increase Nigeria’s crude production capacity to satisfy both domestic and export needs.
