Dangote Refinery Refutes Claims of Payment from IPMAN for Product Deliveries
The Dangote Petroleum Refinery denies receiving any payments from the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) for the purchase of refined petroleum products. While the refinery acknowledges ongoing discussions with IPMAN, it clarifies that it is incorrect to imply that the association faces challenges in loading refined products from its facility, as there are currently no direct business transactions between them.
In a statement released last night, the refinery emphasized, “As a result, we cannot be held accountable for any payments made to other entities.” The management explained that any referenced payments went through the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and not directly to the refinery.
Additionally, the refinery pointed out that the NNPCL has neither approved nor authorized the release of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to IPMAN. “We would like to stress that we can meet the national demand for all petroleum products, including petrol, diesel, and aviation fuel. Currently, we can load 2,900 trucks daily and are also transporting petroleum products by sea.”
The refinery urged IPMAN to register with them and make direct payments, assuring that ample petroleum products are available to meet the needs of their members.
Furthermore, the statement highlighted the importance of all stakeholders avoiding unfounded media claims, as such actions could jeopardize the economic reform efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. “Engaging in business through public speculation is counterproductive and unpatriotic. For the benefit of our country, we encourage all stakeholders to collaborate and follow President Tinubu’s guidance, fostering a unified approach rather than participating in media disputes and unnecessary propaganda,” the statement concluded, signed by Anthony Chiejina, Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer of Dangote Group.
